Police Report
July 13 – August 3
July 13 – A male reported that his unlocked bicycle was stolen while parked outside a local business on Cargill Road.
July 14 – Police received a report from a male who advised that a female who was under conditions not to contact him breached her condition and assaulted him. She was later arrested for Assault and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
Police were dispatched to a residence regarding an altercation involving a male and female. While speaking with the female she advised that she was assaulted by her husband and he was subsequently arrested for Assault and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
July 15 – A male reported that he was assaulted by a female known to him and she was subsequently arrested by police for Assault and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
While monitoring traffic on Main Street police observed a moped travelling westbound on South Railway Avenue without its lights on, and both the operator and passenger were not wearing helmets. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was issued tickets for: Driving an unregistered vehicle ($298) and Driving a moped without wearing a helmet ($174). He was also issued verbal warnings for having a passenger and not having a licence, and the moped was towed from the scene.
July 16 – A female reported that her unlocked vehicle was rummaged through during the night while parked at an apartment complex on Northlands Parkway. Nothing was noted to be missing and no damage to the vehicle was observed.
July 25 – A female reported that her ex-boyfriend posted explicit images of her on social media and requested that he be issued a warning. Police spoke with the male and issued him a verbal warning, advising that if this behaviour continued a criminal investigation would be conducted.
July 26 – Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 8th Street and Pembina Avenue involving an SUV and e-scooter. Upon speaking with witnesses police learned that both the SUV and e-scooter stopped at the four-way stop, with the driver of the e-scooter entering the intersection on his turn at which time the driver of the SUV drove directly in his path, causing him to strike the SUV. The driver of the SUV was issued a ticket for Proceeding before it is safe to do so ($174). Both parties were treated on scene by paramedics and released.
July 28 – Police were dispatched to the report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Main Street and Roblin Boulevard. Police learned that a northbound vehicle travelled through a red light, striking a female pedestrian who was crossing the street. The driver was issued an Appearance Notice and this file remains under investigation.
July 29 – A report was received regarding a building on 1st Street which was vandalized with spray paint. This file is still under investigation.
A male reported that funds were fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account via his virtual debit card. This investigation is ongoing.
July 30 – At approximately 3:50 a.m. a female reported that she was assaulted by a male known to her. The male, who was highly intoxicated, was located and a search incident to arrest resulted in police locating a weapon and drug paraphernalia. Police confirmed the male had breached multiple conditions including not abiding by his absolute curfew, not possessing any weapons and not consuming or possessing any alcohol or cannabis. He was arrested for Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Breaching a Conditional Sentence Order (x4) and remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court.
August 1 – A female reported that she was assaulted by her intoxicated boyfriend who had since fled the scene and was in possession of her cellphone. Police conducted an extensive search but were unable to locate the male. The female later contacted police advising that she was tracking her boyfriend via her phone and he was back at her residence. Police observed the male in the backyard at which time he fled on foot, and a foot pursuit ensued, with the female tracking the male’s location. He was located and arrested for Assault and for breaching his federal parole condition not to consume alcohol and was remanded into the custody of Stony Mountain Institution.
