September 8 – At approximately 11:02 a.m., police were dispatched to the report of a male in possession of a firearm, which was later learned to be a BB gun designed to replicate a firearm. The BB gun was relinquished, and the male was released without charges.
Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway #14 and Park Street involving a southbound vehicle which was struck by a northbound vehicle turning west onto Highway #14. The driver of the northbound vehicle provided his first name, a phone number which was later learned to be incorrect, and proceeded to leave the scene at a high rate of speed. Police attended the male’s residence the following day where he was issued an Appearance Notice for the HTA charges of: Fail to yield right of way when making a left turn, As the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident, failing to give required information and Driving without a valid driver’s license, along with a Serious Offence Notice.
September 9 – A complaint was received from a female regarding intimate videos that were taken of her without her consent by a male known to her, and the male was threatening to release the videos. He was located and arrested for Voyeurism and Extortion and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
September 10 – Staff of a local store reported that a male shoplifted several items and fled in an awaiting vehicle. This file is still under investigation.
September 11 – Police received a complaint regarding a male who stole several items from a local gas station. After reviewing video footage, police recognized the 17-year-old male and issued him a banishment notice, written warning, and advised his mother of the situation.
September 13 – A resident of Amber Street reported that her vehicle was rummaged through sometime during the night and her wallet was stolen.
A resident of Gemstone Drive reported that his vehicle was rummaged through, and several low-value items were stolen.
September 14 – The manager of a local store reported three youths who shoplifted multiple items and were leaving the store. All three youths were located, and one youth was found to be in possession of the stolen items. The parents of each youth were advised of the situation and served a banishment notice regarding their child.
September 15 – A resident of Roblin Boulevard reported that his unlocked vehicle, containing his wallet and keys, was stolen sometime during the night. The vehicle was later recovered by the Winnipeg Police Service. This investigation is ongoing.
A female reported that she fell victim to a scam after she was advised to purchase a large amount of gift cards to pay back an incorrect wire transfer. Police advised her to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and her banking institution.
Another resident of Roblin Boulevard reported that his unlocked vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. This investigation is ongoing.
Staff of a local store reported that two males exited the store without paying for multiple items of merchandise. This file is still under investigation.
A male reported that his electric bicycle was locked up outside of his place of work on Roblin Boulevard, during which time the chain was cut, and the electric bicycle was stolen. This file is still under investigation.
A resident of Jade Street reported that his electric scooter was stolen from inside his garage sometime during the night and his vehicle was also rummaged through. This file is still under investigation.
September 16 – Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a female in possession of illicit drugs. The female was located and a search of her person incident to arrest resulted in police locating an amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. While inside the residence, police observed more illicit drugs and paraphernalia on the floor. Because there were two young children living in the home, the female was charged with Criminal Negligence along with Possession of a Schedule I Drug. She was transported to the Winkler Police Service and later released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
The manager of a local business reported a fraud that took place on August 28th via email. While emailing a seller regarding a substantial purchase, the seller advised to send payment to a new account, and payment was sent. The business later discovered that the seller’s email account was hacked, and the payment did not go to the seller. This investigation is ongoing.
September 18 – A resident of Jade Street reported that his vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. This file is still under investigation.
September 19 – Police received a report regarding vandalism to a building on Manitoba Road consisting of a smashed window and broken door handle. Police located the suspect who admitted to damaging the building and another building on the property. He was arrested for Mischief Under $5000 (x2) and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
September 21 – While monitoring traffic at the intersection of Highway #14 and Road 23W, police observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and obtained a speed reading of 159 km/h in the 100 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was issued a ticket for Speeding ($822) and a Serious Offence Notice.
