October 6 – A resident of Jade Street reported that his vehicle was stolen sometime during the night, and police were later advised by the Winnipeg Police Service that they had located the vehicle.
Police received a report of graffiti observed on multiple items of City of Winkler property. This file is still under investigation.
A female reported that numerous fraudulent transactions were made from her credit card on September 23rd. She advised that she is still in possession of her credit card but had responded to a text message notifying her to pay for a traffic ticket and suspected this is how the scammer obtained her credit card information.
October 8 – Two residents of Northlands Parkway reported that their bicycles were stolen sometime during the night of September 19th.
At approximately 11:24 p.m., police received a report of three suspicious males and upon locating the males, police learned one of them was breaching his curfew. He was arrested for Failure to Comply with a Release Order and released on an Appearance Notice.
Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a female who was assaulted by her husband. Upon speaking with the female, police arrested the male for Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats and later released him on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
October 10 – A male was arrested and charged with Disobeying a Court Order after contacting an individual whom he was under conditions not to contact. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
While on patrol on Main Street, police observed a male urinating from the sidewalk onto the grass and upon speaking with the male police noted him to be intoxicated. He was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, during which time police located the male to be in possession of unstamped cigarettes. He was released once sober with a ticket for Possessing not Manitoba marked tobacco, which carried a fine of $2542.
A report was received regarding a male who assaulted his wife and adult teenage son. He was arrested for Assault and Assault with a Weapon and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
October 12 – A teenage female reported that she was assaulted by her father earlier that day. The male was arrested for Assault with a Weapon (x2) and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
October 14 – A teenage male was arrested and charged with Assault after assaulting another teenage male. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
October 16 – At approximately 11:44 p.m., police were dispatched to the report of a male who broke into an apartment while in possession of two weapons and threatened the occupants inside, who were able to defend themselves until he left. Police located the male and arrested him for Break, Enter & Commit Assault with a Weapon, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats (x2) and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (x2). He was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on October 20th.
October 17 – A female reported that on October 16th several items were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at a local store.
While on patrol, police observed a male who was wanted on the strength of a warrant and while searching him incident to arrest, located an amount of methamphetamine. He was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine) and released on an Appearance Notice.
October 20 – A male reported that two windows of his vehicle were broken while parked at a business on Norquay Drive and property was stolen from inside the vehicle.
October 24 – Shortly after 1:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the complaint of two males who threw an item at the complainants’ vehicle and were then seen trying vehicle doors in a parking lot. The complainants also advised that one of the males appeared to point a gun in the air and then threw it underneath a vehicle (it was later located by police and determined to be an airsoft pistol). Police located the males, one of whom fled while being arrested but was apprehended. He was arrested and charged with Mischief, Resisting a Peace Officer and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court. He was also released on an Appearance Notice for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle. The second male suspect was arrested and charged with Mischief, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Pointing a Firearm and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court. He was also released on an Appearance Notice for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Consuming Liquor in a Public Place.
At approximately 5:27 a.m., police received a report regarding a male who had been assaulted several hours earlier by one of the males in custody in the above file. The suspect was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Forcible Confinement and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
Staff of a local store reported a shoplifting incident involving a female who left without paying for merchandise on October 23rd. Police later received a complaint from another store regarding a shoplifting incident that occurred on October 22nd involving the same female suspect. Police were familiar with the female and served her a banishment notice on each store’s behalf.
A female reported that her son’s bicycle was stolen from a bike rack sometime on October 22nd.
October 25 – A report was received regarding a male who breached his conditions not to contact a female known to him. Through further investigation, police determined the male was arrestable for Failing to Comply with a Release Order (x2) and Obstructing Justice, and a female known to the complainant who was also involved in the incident was arrested for Obstructing Justice and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court. This file is still under investigation.
October 30 – A male reported that after messaging with a female and sending intimate photos, the female demanded money otherwise the pictures would be posted online. After sending an amount of money the female requested more, and police advised him to block her and report the account.
October 31 – Police observed a vehicle travelling on Main Street at a high rate of speed and obtained a reading of 64 km/h. A traffic stop was conducted at which time police noted the odour of beverage alcohol emanating from inside the vehicle and observed the driver to be displaying signs of impairment. The male driver complied to the demand for a breath sample which resulted in two “Fail” readings. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition which carried a $700 fine, 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 30-day vehicle seizure and he was issued a ticket for Speeding which carried a fine of $233.
