February 10 – A female reported that her ex-boyfriend damaged her vehicle and the front door of her residence. This file is still under investigation.
February 11 – Police received a report of a male and female who left a local store without paying for a large amount of merchandise. This investigation is ongoing.
A female reported that she was sexually assaulted by a male known to her. The male was located, arrested for Sexual Assault and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
February 13 – A male reported that he fell victim to a rental scam after filling out a rental agreement for a residence listed online and providing a deposit. Shortly after, the male learned the advertiser was not the owner of the residence and attended his bank where he learned the transaction had already been cancelled as it was deemed suspicious. The male was not out any money as a result of the scam.
February 14 – Staff of a local store reported that a male, who was banned from the store and under a condition not to attend, had shoplifted several items on February 7th, 11th and had attended again on February 14th with a male and female and fled without paying for merchandise. Police were advised the following day that the male had returned and stole another item of merchandise on February 15th. The male, who was known by police, was located at his residence and arrested for Theft Under $5000 (x4), Failing to Comply with an Undertaking (x4) and Trespassing (x4) and remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court. The female, who was also banned from the store and under a condition not to attend, was arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and Trespassing and released on an Appearance Notice. The second male was issued a banishment notice on the store’s behalf.
February 17 – At approximately 4:13 a.m., a resident of Orion Lane reported that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway. It was later recovered by police at another location in the City of Winkler and the owner was notified.
At approximately 4:20 a.m., police were dispatched to the report of a male who had been assaulted with a weapon by a male he claimed was unknown to him, which was later determined to be false. While interviewing witnesses the male’s roommate confessed to the assault and he was subsequently arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
A female attended the Winkler Police Service to report that her intoxicated common-law partner wrecked numerous items in their residence and damaged her vehicle. While speaking with police she also disclosed that he assaulted her several days prior. The male was located, arrested for Assault, Forcible Confinement and Mischief Over $5000 (x2) and later released once sober on a Release Order with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
Staff of a local store reported that two males and one female shoplifted numerous items of merchandise.
February 20 – A male reported that he was threatened and assaulted by two males known to him. One of the male suspects was located and arrested for Assault and Uttering Threats and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court. The second male suspect was not located, and a warrant is being sought for his arrest.
Police observed a vehicle travelling without valid registration and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. After further investigation the female driver was issued an Appearance Notice for the following Highway Traffic Act offences: Driving while disqualified, Driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an approved ignition-interlock device, Driving an unregistered vehicle, Failing to produce a licence, Driving without motor vehicle liability insurance and As an unlicensed driver, operating a vehicle while having alcohol in the blood and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
A report was received regarding a male who made threats regarding several individuals. He was located, arrested for Uttering Threats (x7) and remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court.
February 22 – A female reported that two females known to her entered her residence without invitation and while attempting to have them leave one of them assaulted her. The female suspect was located, arrested for Assault and later released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
February 25 – An elderly male reported that in early 2024 he was contacted by someone claiming to be an investor and over the course of approximately one year sent a substantial amount of money and now realized it was a scam. This investigation is ongoing.
Police received a report regarding a teenage male and female who were assaulted, with the male also being sexually assaulted, by a female known to them. The female was arrested, charged with Break & Enter to Commit an Offence, Assault (x2) and Sexual Assault and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
February 27 – Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a teenage male who assaulted two family members. He was arrested for Assault (x2) and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
February 28 – A resident of 3rd Street reported that her house and vehicle were “egged” sometime during the night.
A male reported that he received a call from someone claiming to be from Rogers who offered him a discount on his bill and required his driver’s licence number and date of birth. He was then requested to send the photo portion of his licence at which time he realized the call was likely a scam. Police advised him to contact Rogers, monitor his accounts and change his passwords.
March 1 – While on patrol, police observed an eastbound vehicle turn northbound onto Main Street and noted the vehicle’s loud exhaust. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was issued a ticket for: Making unnecessary noise, namely exhaust system. ($237).
