April 15 – While on Main Street police observed a southbound vehicle accelerate rapidly which caused the vehicle’s exhaust system to rev loudly and make excessive noise. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was issued a ticket for: Making unnecessary noise, namely exhaust system ($237). Shortly afterward, another ticket was issued to another driver for the same offence.
April 16 – While on patrol, police observed a male in front of a store who was on an absolute curfew which required him to remain at his residence. Upon seeing the police, the male fled on foot and attempted to hide but was located and arrested for Failing to Comply with a Release Order. He was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court.
April 17 – Two males were arrested after police received a complaint regarding individuals inside a residence who were suspected of breaching their court orders. The first male was charged with Failing to Comply with a Release Order as he was in contact with a male whom he was under conditions not to contact. The second male was charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking (x3) as he was in contact with a male and female whom he was under conditions not to contact and under conditions not to attend the residence. Both males were remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court.
April 20 – A male reported that he fell victim to a scam after attempting to purchase a vehicle listed for sale on Kijiji and providing the seller a deposit. After attempting to attend the provided address in Winnipeg, the male learned that the address did not exist and the seller ceased contact.
April 21 – A female reported that she was contacted by a male who was under conditions not to contact her. The male was arrested the following day for Disobeying a Court Order and released on an Appearance Notice.
April 22 – A resident of 6th Street reported that her front licence plate was stolen from her vehicle.
A female reported that she received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Purolator who advised that her package was being held in Texas and several accounts had been opened in her name. The scammer knew the female’s address and advised they would be attending the following day to collect a large sum of money. The female did not send any money and was provided with resources regarding scams and frauds.
While on patrol, police observed a motorcycle travelling on Main Street excessively revving its engine, which was extremely loud. A traffic stop was conducted, and the rider was issued a ticket for: Making unnecessary noise, namely excessive revving of engine ($237).
April 24 – A report was received regarding several teenagers who set an item on fire on 6th Street. The teenagers were located and issued verbal warnings, and their parents were notified of the incident.
April 25 – While travelling on Triple E Boulevard, police observed an eastbound vehicle loudly revving its engine, squealing its tires and then accelerating over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was issued a ticket for: Driving imprudently ($203).
April 26 – While conducting a traffic stop, police noted the strong odour of liquor emanating from inside the vehicle and observed liquor on the back seat. The driver complied to a demand for a breath sample which resulted in a “Fail” reading and he was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition which carried a $700 fine, 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment.
