November 6 – Police were dispatched to a complaint of a male who was inside a residence which he was under conditions not to attend. Police located the male, noted him to be intoxicated (he was also under conditions not to consume alcohol) and arrested him for Breaching an Undertaking (x2). He was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on November 8th.
November 7 – The manager of a local business reported that on October 8th the business was defrauded out of a substantial sum of money after receiving a legitimate-looking email from an equipment supplier regarding changes to the supplier’s banking information. After the requested changes were completed, a large payment was made and the business later learned that the supplier’s email address was hacked, and the funds were not transferred to the supplier. The compromise took place in the USA and is being investigated by several other agencies.
A male reported that he attempted to purchase tires on Facebook Marketplace and sent the seller a sum of money. He later found a different profile selling the same tires for a different price. Police advised the male that his money was likely sent out of province and it would be difficult to get back.
November 9 – A complaint was received regarding a suspected impaired driver travelling toward Winkler on Road 428. Police located the vehicle, which was travelling at a high rate of speed, and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and complied to a demand for a breath sample, which resulted in a “Fail” reading. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition, which carried a fine of $700, a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment.
November 13 – Police received a complaint regarding a male who was suspected of driving while impaired. The vehicle was located by police and a traffic stop was conducted, during which time the driver complied to a demand for a breath sample which resulted in a “Fail” reading. The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition, which carried a fine of $700, a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment. He was also issued a ticket for As a driver, carrying liquor in a vehicle ($237).
November 18 – A resident of 3rd Street South reported that his vehicle was vandalized while parked on the street the previous night.
A resident of 3rd Street South reported that eggs were thrown at his vehicle during the night, and that this had also occurred several times prior.
Several complaints were received regarding individuals playing “ding dong ditch” and a picture was obtained via a doorbell camera. Police located the teenaged suspects, who were familiar to police, and issued them warnings.
November 19 – The supervisor of a local restaurant reported that the restaurant was scammed after receiving a phone call advising that funds needed to be paid in order for a parcel to clear customs. Following the instructions of the scammer, a large amount of money was deposited into a bitcoin ATM by restaurant staff.
November 21 – A resident of Main Street South reported damage to her detached garage and the front door of her residence that occurred on November 20th. This file is still under investigation.
A report was received regarding a vehicle that was stolen from a business located on Roblin Boulevard East. Several other vehicles parked at the business were rummaged through with multiple items being stolen. This investigation is ongoing.
November 24 – A male reported that someone threw an object at the back window of his truck, smashing the window, and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was later located, arrested for Mischief Under $5000 and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
