November 25 – December 15

November 25 – A male reported that his vehicle was vandalized while parked at a property on Main Street. The damage consisted of the rear window being smashed.

Staff of a local store reported that a male behaving in an aggressive manner left without paying for his merchandise. Police located the male, found him to be intoxicated and arrested him under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. He was released once sober on a written caution for the theft.

November 26 – Police were dispatched to a local store regarding a theft that had taken place. Loss prevention personnel had the suspect in custody, and he was arrested by police for Theft Under $5000 and later released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.

A complaint was received regarding a customer who assaulted a store employee. This investigation is ongoing.

November 30 – A resident of 15th Street reported that a vehicle damaged the decorative fence on the front of his property.

A female reported that she provided her Social Insurance Number and other personal information to someone claiming to be from Amazon. Police provided her with advice regarding online security.

December 2 – Police received a report of a vehicle that was vandalized while parked at a business on Norquay Drive. The vandalism consisted of the rear window being smashed.

December 6 – A teenaged male reported that he was assaulted by another teenaged male who was known to him. The complainant was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and the suspect was later arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.

While monitoring traffic on Main Street, police observed a vehicle travelling without a front licence plate and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop, at which time police learned the licence plate was secured behind the bumper making it difficult to see. While speaking with the driver, police noted him to be exhibiting signs of impairment and he complied to a demand for a breath sample, which resulted in a “Fail” reading. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition, which carried a $700 fine, 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment.

December 9 – A male reported that he received a phone call regarding a suspicious charge on his Paypal account and the caller advised that he could strengthen the account if the male e-transferred a large sum of money. The male started the transfer and contacted his bank, who were able to freeze his account and prevent the money from being sent out.

December 10 – The manager of a local store reported a theft that took place involving a male and female who left the store without paying for multiple items of merchandise. This investigation is ongoing.

Police received a report of theft involving a male who stole merchandise from a local store. As part of the investigation the male’s photo was placed on social media and he turned himself in several minutes later. He was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.

December 11 – A report was received regarding a female who was threatened by her common-law husband. This file is still under investigation.

December 12 – Police received a report of a suspected impaired driver and upon locating the vehicle proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment and complied to a demand for a breath sample, which resulted in a “Fail” reading. She was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition which carried a $700 fine, 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment. She was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged until sober.

Police are investigating a theft from a local store involving three males who left the store without paying for merchandise.

Staff of a local store reported a theft that occurred the previous day involving a female who is familiar to police. The store requested that a banishment notice be served in lieu of criminal charges. This investigation is ongoing.

Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a fight taking place between two adult brothers. The brother who instigated the fight was arrested for Assault and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.

December 14 – A report of shoplifting was received regarding a male who exited a local store without paying for a large amount of merchandise and departed in a vehicle. Store staff provided a description of the vehicle which police located nearby. The male suspect and the female driver were arrested for Theft Under $5000 and multiple new items of merchandise were observed inside the vehicle, which were later confirmed to have been stolen from several local stores. The male was charged with Theft Under $5000 (x4) and the female was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (x4), Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, and the Highway Traffic Act charge of Driving While Disqualified. Both individuals were released on Undertakings with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.
