The following are some of the files that were opened with the Winkler Police Service during this time period.
March 7
At 4:12 p.m. police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Main Street South. When police arrived there was no sign of a disturbance but a 27 year old male was found to be breaching his Probation Order and currently had 4 outstanding arrest warrants. He was arrested and released to attend court at a later date.
March 8
At about 8:30 a.m. police received a report of a break and enter into the underground parkade for Cedar Estates. There did not appear to be anything missing but there was damage to one of the vehicles. File still under investigation.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. an off duty Winkler Police officer observed a vehicle travelling towards Morden that matched the description of a vehicle involved in thefts of gas recently in Winkler. Morden Police were notified and they stopped the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to Winkler Police members. The 24 year old male was charged with the gas thefts and he also had an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Winnipeg Police Service and was breaching a release order associated to a separate incident. He was transported to the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
March 9
Police received a report from a person who had been the victim of a scam. He had sent pictures to someone online that he believed was a female but that person demanded money from him or they would share the pictures online. He had already sent a small amount of money but the scammer requested more. He was advised to stop all communication with the person and to block them from their social media as well as to report their profile to the social media site.
March 11
At about 3:50 a.m. police were requested by hotel staff to remove occupants from two neighboring rooms. Staff had received numerous noise complaints from other guests and there were several unregistered persons in both rooms. Hotel staff asked them to leave but the occupants did not cooperate. Police removed everyone from both rooms. One 19 year old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and held in custody until sober.
