The following are some of the files that were opened with the Winkler Police Service during this two (2) week time period.
At 4:40 p.m. Police received a report of a theft of approximately $1900 of tools from a retail business on Navigator Road. Two male suspects left with the items in a Dodge van. Police located the van parked at a business on Norquay Drive. One male suspect was in the vehicle and arrested for theft. The second male was located as he exited the business and also arrested for theft. A search of the van revealed numerous stolen items from businesses in Winkler and Altona. The van itself was also stolen. A 43 year old male from Brandon and a 37 year old male from Winnipeg face numerous charges including Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, Theft Under $5000, Fail to Comply with an Undertaking, Operating a vehicle while Prohibited, Operate a Motor vehicle with an Unauthorized Number Plate, Carry Liquor in a Vehicle, and Drive Without a License.
At about 11:30 a.m. while officers were westbound on Roblin Boulevard and just coming to a stop at the intersection with Park Street, they observed a southbound vehicle on Park Street drive through the 4 way stop at approximately 65 km/h. Officers stopped the vehicle on Park Street. The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device which registered a “Fail” reading. The 43 year old resident of Winkler was arrested for Driving Over .08 and subsequently provided two breath samples of 240 mg% each, three times the legal limit. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in November.
